MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA 2018
April 27, 2018
by Rachael Russell
On April 12 - 15, 2018, Style Saves and Miansai, along with a team of 13 volunteers, headed to Medellin, Colombia for our 5th annual service trip.
Our volunteers- Lauren Eggersten from Who What Wear, Jose Forteza from Vogue Mexico and Latin America, and Eliza Jordan from Whitewall magazine, all came together to join forces in making an impact on lives of kids and to spread the word about Style Saves mission.
We had the opportunity to visit two different orphanages, public and private. Casa Maria y El Nino, government owned and funded, cares for about 40 kids all under the age of 9 years old. Their mission is to be the hope for a better future in caring for the holistic good of children who have been mistreated and abused.
We spent the day painting a new mural at the house, playings sports, having lunch, and enjoying quality time with our new little friends.
Casa Hogar Nazareth, privately owned and funded, cares for a total of 50 kids ranging from 5-12 years old from underprivileged families and families with only a single mother parent.
Style Saves brought 20 duffel bags of donations including clothing, shoes and accessories, hygiene items, toys, brand new book bags and school supplies.
The sweet children here have known us since we began serving Colombia, they have such a special place in our hearts. We loved getting to spend the day together making more memories, playing soccer, making arts and crafts and putting smiles on their faces. Making a difference is always in style.
We can’t wait to go back!
